Biography

The metal swashbuckling storytelling, Skull & Bones was founded in 2011 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where is the first to start out in this particular genre of heavy metal. The name is a reference to the fearsome and remarkable design of the Jolly Roger flag, an emblem of pirate symbology.

The band takes on themes based on the golden age of piracy, with references from both real historical characters of the period as well as literary fiction from the genre.

 

 

Although the band´s main idea was born in 2011 working on the first demos and looking for musicians, their first full length album titled “The Cursed Island” was released independently on february 1st 2014. A concept album inspired by the classic work “Treasure Island” by Scottish writer Robert L. Stevenson.

In order to promote this album a music video was released worldwide on the special date of September 19 (Talk Like a Pirate Day) on YouTube. The selected song was “The Chest of Billy Bones”.

The first Skull & Bones live presentation ever took place in Argentina, supporting the pirate metal band ALESTORM in their first south american tour.

During the year 2014 the band has signed with the USA label Stormspell Records, which released its own edition of The Cursed Island distributing it to metal labels and shops worldwide.
